James Langton is internationally renowned as a re-creator of the big band swing sound. James was born in York, England, and trained as an actor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and later as a musician at the Guildhall School in London. He led the Pasadena Roof Orchestra from 1996 to 2002. He created the Solid Senders Orchestra as part of his Master’s Degree studies to play the music of the Swing Era. After moving full-time to New York he created the New York All-Star Big Band with which he continues to perform at famous venues such as The Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center. He is also a busy voice-over artist who has recorded more than 150 audiobooks, winning a prestigious Audie award in 2013. His radio show This Thing Called Swing has been broadcast internationally.
